Our pastor.

Rev. Ronald (Ron) E. Gurganus comes to serve Cumberland UMC from Elevation UMC where he had served for the past seven years. Ron graduated from Duke University with a Master of Divinity degree.  He also has a Forestry degree from NC State, an MBA from Duke University, and an electrical engineering degree.
Ron retired as a Sgt Major from the Army Reserves with 26 years of service. 
Ron has two daughters and one stepson.  Ron and his wife, Carolyn, have four grandchildren.

Our history.
      Our church, as it appears now, was completed in 1973. From its humble beginnings as a campsite church about 160 years ago, Cumberland United Methodist Church has served our community. Our church has a strong history of reaching out to that community. This is a tradition we intend to keep. more...
